Students are encouraged to set or review their Goals shortly after arriving and develop their Career plan/pathway. “Your Career Plan will reflect your long and short term career goals and identify what you need to do to achieve your goals”.
CV’s and Resumes
Your CV or Resume must be professional and highlight your skills, qualifications and work experience. It should also include referee’s, people who can be contacted to vouch for you. This is ‘your’ selling document. The first thing Employers will see is your CV so it must contain enough information for them to make a judgement about whether they want to invite you to attend an interview. Therefore the style, layout, grammar, accuracy length must be clear and of the highest quality/standard. If a CV looks unattractive, contains or spelling/grammar errors, employers will not bother to finish reading the CV.
Careernz (http://www.careers.govt.nz/) has samples and templates to guide you, as well as providing tips on and interview techniques. Ask someone who is fluent in English and familiar with New Zealand to check over your CV or Resume before you start sending it to Employers.
