"Six months after enrolling I found a part time job at Subway in Kumeu. Now I’m the Manager. I'm grateful to have studied at AWI. I learned a lot, and how to balance my studies with work. AWI continued to support me even after I graduated. I hope all AWI students have a bright future”
Cinara Lima, Business Management
"I worked at Clara Jewellery in Christchurch, as salesperson in 2006. Due to the earthquake in February 2011 the shop was destroyed so I decided to take a new direction and enrolled in a Business Management Course at AWI from 2011/2012. The course provided me with a lot of knowledge and leadership skills to manage a business. I realised that there was so much more to running a business than I originally knew or thought and that it takes many people to run a business including good leaders and leadership skills. AWI was able to provide the knowledge through their teaching and resources such as the library which was available to us - you can find everything at AWI.”
Gao Zelong, NZIM & NZDB
"I studied at AWI for both NZIM and NZDipBus from April 2011 to August 2013. I really appreciate the classes, the teachers and the friends I made during my stay with AWI and I was glad to study in AWI. I am a motivated, disciplined and a courteous person. Now I work in two companies: Butcher Village, where I have been a manager for two years and the other being Oceania Football Confederation where I have worked as a warehouse keeper since last year.”
Ramil Relente, NZIM
“I came to New Zealand with some managerial skills. These were further developed and enhanced when I took NZIM at AWI in 2012. The programme provided me the NZ context and new perspectives. The papers that I studied enabled me to become an effective business development manager at Black and White right after graduation. Currently I am the business development manager in an ICT company. This full time employment qualified me to become a permanent resident of New Zealand.”
John Edward Fernandez, NDC
"My prior knowledge and experience in IT before coming to New Zealand was deepened and contextualized in the NZ setting. I owe this to the many opportunities and exposure that AWI has provided me as an NDC student. It was these skills and knowledge that landed me a full time employment, then later helped me become a NZ permanent resident. Currently, I work for NZ Home Loans as Database Administrator."
Sebu Abraham, NZIM
"Today, I am a manager of a dairy shop in Hillsborough. My interest in Business led me to study at AWI and pursue NZIM. Little did I realize that immediately after graduation, what I learned from school I would be able to apply very well in managing the dairy effectively and efficiently. Thanks to AWI! My gratitude also goes to my lecturers who taught me well and motivated me to pursue my goal."
Michael Mourad Habashi, IELTS
"I enjoyed the IELTS class, it was amazing, because the teacher is efficient, co-operative and kind. She knows everything about English and IELTS, so without her support I couldn't have got my desired result. Thanks Tamara and AWI staff." Michael needed to improve his reading score particularly, and did so within a couple of months. With the individual assistance of the IELTS tutor, Tamara, who gave Michael extra support and guidance regarding reading skills, Michael's level of confidence increased, and he was pleasantly surprised to receive higher results than he anticipated.

Rachel Chen, General English
"I am Rachel and I studied General English at AWI which is a good school that helped improve my English. Teachers are helpful and kind. When asked questions, they were patient, especially Joanne. She is a really good teacher. At the beginning my grammar was bad. After I learned in her class, my grammar improved. The class atmosphere was relaxing. We learnt a lot when we were playing English games. My classmates were also friendly. We always helped each other. I enjoyed studying in AWI"
Zaruchevskiy Pavel, AWI Business Level7
"Even though I already had my Bachelor’s Degree when I came to study in New Zealand, AWI played a significant role in my understanding of a local business environment. College’s curriculum ideally made me prepared for the work after graduation. The study here improved my knowledge of business, further developed my communication skills and in general contributed to successful employment in the marketing area. All staff who guided me throughout my studies were very friendly and supportive all the time. I am really lucky that I had a chance to study here!"
Loveleen Kaur, DCIT Level 7
"I have completed my DCIT Level7 from AWI institute. And I had a great experience studying here, especially with our Tutor, Roger. At the same time, I got a job in McDonald’s. When I studied in AWI, I was well looked after by my classmates. Last but not least, I made many friends from this institute and they were always with me every moment. That was the most important thing in my life. I had such a great experience at AWI that I cannot express in words."
Ashish Kumar, DCIT Level 7
" I’m Ashish. Coming from overseas was tough for me but when I arrived in New Zealand, I had some new friends from multicultural backgrounds who made my life interesting. My tutor Roger was good at giving positive notes to all students and the best part he provided was the practical demonstrations where I learnt a lot. Now I work in “BP Fuel America”. I was referred to an IT company “PC King” by AWI for my internship."
You Xuguo, IELTS
“My name is Ray You Xuguo. I come from China. I have been studying General English and IELTS in AWI for almost one year. It has been a really valuable time. When I started my English was very basic, not good enough for simple every-day conversation. Thanks to Tamara, my teacher, who always encouraged me and told me that I could get a high score if I tried hard. I gained confidence. I got a score of 6 in the official IELTS exam in July, then a score of 7 in November. It’s really amazing that I could make such huge progress. I know I wouldn’t have made it without Tamara. If someone wants to find a place to improve their English, I will say that AWI is the best choice."
Ravneet Kaur Mangat, Top Performing Student, Business Level 7
